A successful photo shoot is executed on a foundation of planning and strategy. 

  • What is the goal? 
  • What do we want the image to communicate? 
  • Who are we talking to? 
  • Where are we talking to them? 

The answers to questions like these help us develop a shot list, organize priorities, and determine our approach when it comes to things like styling and set design. 

Team Collaboration

Behind every stunning shot is a talented team. From stylists - who ensure the product looks its best - to lighting assistants who work with the photographers to manipulate shadows and highlights to capture the desired mood and feel. 

As a director, building a talented team is an absolute must, and when you find that perfect balance of individual expertise and collaboration, you can absolutely feel it on set and see it in the final images.

Insights from Behind the Lens

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the devil is truly in the details. Sometimes, it’s the smallest adjustments that make the biggest difference. A slight change in lighting, a different angle, or communicating your story to the models/team in a slightly different way.

Being open to experimentation and paying attention to these details can elevate the final outcome significantly. It’s not always seeing what’s there, but also seeing what’s not there.

The Power of Post-Production

The magic doesn’t stop at the click of the shutter. Post-production is where we polish those raw images into the final, dazzling pieces you see. This stage is critical—it’s where we enhance colors, adjust contrasts, and sometimes, bring the impossible to life. 

It’s a blend of art and technology, and as directors, knowing what techniques will ultimately be used is key to realizing our creative visions.
